TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK.
It's hard to believe that our League games are already starting this weekend!! I am so excited to get the season underway. I think HJK is going to surprise a lot of people this year. This past week we got knocked out of the Suomen Cup which was a huge disappointment. Making it to the Final last year was great and we were really hoping to make it back there. However, with some minor injuries and team sickness going around, we only really had one sub for the game and even though we still should've won, we weren't able to finish our chances and they finished one of the few they had. But now looking back on that game, I think it may have been just what our team needed. It was a huge wake up call that has made us better going into the League games. We know that we have to play hard and give everything during an entire game. And we can't rely on others to get the job done...we all have to do our part. Also I think it may cause some other teams to underestimate us and I kind of love being the underdog!!
This past weekend we had team camp in Kisakallio. It was a great facility that had rooms, food, a pool, sauna, gymnastics area, soccer fields, and pretty much anything you could need. It was a great chance to bond as a team and get in a scrimmage and a few recovery trainings, including trampoline jumping and who doesn't love that?!?! Last season I joined the team much later because I had to finish up my college studies so it has been nice being here for some of the preseason activities :)
We have a good group of new players that I'm really excited about. They have brought a lot to the team and I think we all have a good attitude and atmosphere in trainings. I'm really excited to see what all we can accomplish this season. Our first game on Saturday is in Turku against TPS which is kind of cool cause this was where I played my first game with HJK last year! I am hoping we can start this season off on the right foot. The race to win a medal in Naisten Liiga starts from the very first game and I really want to medal this year, especially since we are no longer in the Suomen Cup. Now our focus is completely on the League. I hope you will follow our season on this blog, by reading my entries and watching the videos I post, and you can follow on HJK's website. (www.hjk.fi) Also, HJK Naiset has a facebook page, twitter account and instagram account so there are tons of ways to stay connected with the team!!
