I wanted to blog about this earlier but I thought it would be best to wait for HJK to announce that I was returning for the 2014 season first!! They put an article out today that you can find at http://www.hjk.fi/uutiset/Naiset-1922. I am so excited to be returning to Helsinki mid February to continue this journey and begin this new season! I can't believe I have the opportunity to play professionally once again and that I can represent HJK, a club I have come to love!!!
We have a great group of players this season, both returners and new players I will meet once I am back in Finland. I am looking forward to being able to be there for the entire season this time around since last season I had to join in late after I finished my college classes. In fact, I will actually arrive about a month before the season officially starts so I will be able to train with the team and play in some training games before it all begins.
This season also brings some new opportunities that HJK is allowing me to pursue. I will have more responsibilities to do outside of just training and games. I am hoping to get involved in some of the youth teams within the club as coaching and training have become a huge interest of mine. I just know the possibilities are endless this season and I am eager to get back and get things started. Although the thought of actually being in Finland for part of the winter kind of terrifies me. I'm sure you'll get to read about a Finnish winter from the point of view of a Carolina Southerner on this blog later in 2014.
I hope you continue to follow my blog and keep up with all that is happening during my second professional season. Until I leave in February, I will be busy training and preparing myself as well as continuing the training I have been doing since I've been back. This individual and team training I have had the opportunity to do during this offseason has been amazing and far beyond what I expected it to be. I have loved learning from these experiences and seeing the influence I can have on youth players.
